The novel is atypical in that it was written in first persona plural from the perspective of an anonymous group of teenage boys who became infatuated with the girls, a style mirroring a Greek chorus The narrator(s) rely on relics and interviews gathered in the two decades after the suicide to construct the tale. The novel is rich in descriptive detail, using observations about the state of the Lisbon house and the contents of the girls’ rooms to advance the plot. AUDIOBOOKS - THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

today you will listen a book which like to many people.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

Victor Hugo began writing The Hunchback of Notre-Dame in 1829. The agreement with his original publisher, Gosselin, was that the book would be finished that same year, but Hugo was constantly delayed due to the demands of other projects. By the summer of 1830, Gosselin demanded Victor Hugo to complete the book by February 1831. Beginning in September 1830, Hugo worked nonstop on the project thereafter. The book was finished six months later.

The story begins on Epiphany (6 January), 1482, the day of the"FEAST OF FOOD" in Paris, France. Quasimodo, the deformed hunchback bell-ringer of Notre Dame, is introduced by his crowning as King of Fools.
Esmeralda, a beautiful Gypsy with a kind and generous heart, captures the hearts of many men, including that of a Captain Phoebus, but especially those of Quasimodo and his adoptive father, Claude Frollo, the Archdeacon of Notre Dame. Frollo is torn between his obsessive love and the rules of the church. He orders Quasimodo to kidnap her, but the hunchback is suddenly captured by Phoebus and his guards who save Esmeralda. Quasimodo is sentenced to be whipped and tied down in the heat. Esmeralda, seeing his thirst, offers him water. It saves him, and she captures his heart.
Esmeralda is later charged with the attempted murder of Phoebus, whom Frollo actually attempted to kill in jealousy, after seing him about to have sex with Esmerelda, and is sentenced to death by hanging. As she is being led to the gallows, Quasimodo swings down by the bell rope of Notre Dame and carries her off to the cathedral under the law of sanctuary Clopin, a street performer, rallies the Truands (criminals of Paris) to charge the cathedral and rescue Esmeralda. The King, seeing the chaos, vetoes the law of sanctuary and commands his troops to take Esmeralda out and kill her. When Quasimodo sees the Truands, he assumes they are there to hurt Esmeralda, so he drives them off. Likewise, he thinks the King's men want to rescue her, and tries to help them find her. Fortunately, she is rescued by Frollo and her phony husband, Gringoire. But after yet another failed attempt to win her love, Frollo betrays Esmeralda by handing her to the troops and watches while she is hanged. Quasimodo pushes him from the heights of Notre Dame to his death. Quasimodo then goes to the mass grave and lies next to Esmeralda's corpse. He then crawls off with the corpse to Esmeralda's tomb, where he cradles her in his arms and eventually dies of starvation. About eighteen months later, the tomb is opened, and the skeletons are found. As someone tries to separate them, Quasimodo's bones turn to dust.

MORE ABOUT GHOSTS

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is a region of the northwestern Atlantic Ocean in which a number of aircraft and surface vessels have disappeared. Some people have claimed that these disappearances fall beyond the boundaries of human error or acts of nature. Some of these disappearances have been attributed to the paranormal, a suspension of the laws of physics, or activity by extraterrestrial beings by popular culture. Though a substantial documentation exists showing numerous incidents to have been inaccurately reported or embellished by later authors, and numerous official agencies have gone on record as stating the number and nature of disappearances to be similar to any other area of ocean, many have remained unexplained despite considerable investigation.

SCARY AUDIOBOOKS

If you like reading mistery or scary books, today we offer the most popular stories you have heard. In addition we present the story to read when you read.

Once there was a young woman named Maria. She lived in a small village down by the river. She loved poetry, romantic novels and beautiful flowers. She dreamed of a beautiful life with a wonderful man. But her father would refuse to let her go out to look for one. Many years passed this way until

She began to sneak out to meet this man, whom she fell in love with. This went on for a few months until she told her father that she wanted to marry the love of her life. Her father became angry but reluctantly accepted.

So she married the man and a few years later had two children. One was a girl, whom she proudly named Maria. The other child was a boy named Mario, named after his father.
Mario, her husband, worked long hours down by the cemetery. He was usually gone all day and all night, so she felt very lonely.

One ill-fated evening she decided to walk to the local store to buy milk for the childrento her great horror she saw her husband with another woman. He was holding her hand and kissing her gently on her lips. Anger overcame her and her heart filled with rage! She ran home crying with tears streaming down her cheeks. Blinded by her terrible anger and madness she blamed her young children for her husbands infidelity. So later that evening, she took her children, down to the river to drown them. When she realized what she had done, she went after her children, but she did not know how to swim. She flailed her arms vigorously in vain. As she gasped for one last breath, she cursed her husband for his misdeeds and vowed to return. She slowly drowned along with her children.

From that day on, at midnight, a woman with a white dress appeared in the small village searching for her lost children wailing "¿donde estan mis hijos?" Everyone in the small village got scared and eventually moved away.

She now roams all across Mexico, Central and South America looking to snatch up little children. No child should ever be alone at night because "La Llorona" is searching for her next victim, wailing those four dreadful words ""¿donde estan mis hijos?"

I can read your mind and I know your story
I see what you're going through
It's an uphill climb, and I'm feeling sorry
But I know it will come to you

Don't surrender 'cause you can win
In this thing called love

When you want it the most there's no easy way out
When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is

When you question me for a simple answer
I don't know what to say, no
But it's plain to see, if you stick together
You're gonna find a way, yeah

So don't surrender 'cause you can win
In this thing called love

When you want it the most there's no easy way out
When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is

When life is empty with no tomorrow
And loneliness starts to call
Baby, don't worry, forget your sorrow
'Cause love's gonna conquer it all, all

When you want it the most there's no easy way out
When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is

When you want it the most there's no easy way out
When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is

That's the way it is
That's the way it is, babe
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is.

A LITTLE MORE REAL ENGLISH FOR ALL OF YOU

We have found this video and we think you will love to hear this american girl's pronunciation. Do you agree with her?? Enjoy it!!!

Hi, this is Kim Purcell at RealESL.com. Remember if you want to get a transcript or vocabulary explanation. Go to my website. I have everything there. I think it’s much more useful than writing the transcript on the actual video itself. Because I can explain much better in writing. You can focus on what I’m saying while you’re watching the video rather than reading below.
Okay so right now we’re going to talk about yoga. Yes, I’m going to yoga. And I wanted to tell you that if you are in America and you are having trouble meeting Americans, go to yoga! Now, you get a great workout (to exercise your body), but also afterwards….make sure you pick a place that has sort of a common talking area (a place where everyone can talk together).
I did this when I lived in Korea. I went to their kind of yoga which is called Dahn Hak. And afterwards you have tea and you talk to everyone. It really improved my Korean and it does the same thing in America (improves your English!).
Now one of my favorite places is called Golden Bridge Yoga. It’s amazing. It’s in Hollywood. I highly recommend it (I think you should go). They have this huge table where everyone sits and you can all chat (talk) and it’s really wonderful. Now, when you sit down to talk to everyone (and you feel like) “Nobody’s talking to me!” Well, you have to talk to them. You have to ask questions. That’s what you need to become really good at.
So if you come to yoga, you can ask, “What class did you do?” Because here there are sometimes a couple different classes going at the same time. And then you say, “Oh do you like that teacher? What do you think about her? Or him?” And then they explain. (You say…) “How long have you been doing yoga?” And then they talk, talk, talk. They think you’re amazing (and your English too!) because you’re asking all these questions and you’re interested in them. That’s what people want. They just want someone who cares. And then you become friends with them. You go to more classes. You hang out (you spend time together). You go for coffe. And the friendship develops from there. Now, go for it. You can do it. I believe in you (I think you can do it). I'm Kim Purcell at RealESL.com.

How to speak kiwi!

New Zelanders are called "kiwis" and Australians are called "aussies". There is slight difference in their accent but some can get upset if you by any chance call a kiwi, an aussie. Personally I find the New Zeland's accent more nasal than Australian or Brittish. Here you will find some videos for you to practice on identifying this particular accent.
The first is a cute add of 2 kiwi kids and one aussie. I recommend to watch it first and try to understand it by yourself, watch it the times it takes! I have posted the trascription below!

Transcription:
Boy1: What are you doing this weekend? Boy2: I'm putting up a retaining wall. Boy1: Doing it yourself? Boy2:Nah, I'm gonna get some bloke in. Boy1: Come on mate, do it urself! Boy2: She's a pretty big job.Boy1: Oh, you'll be right. Boy2: Ya reckon? Boy1: We can knock it over in half a day. Boy2: Yeah?Boy1: Get a couple mates round! Boy1:Hey Jonesy! Boy3: Huh? Boy1:Give us a hand with a job Saturday! Boy3: Mate! Ya dreaming! Boy2: Aussies...Boy1: No suprises there!

These two amazing girls of Just Happened Productions will gave you a few tips on how to adopt the kiwi's accent...bro! Check the voice of the people at the end!
